Oktoberfest Rio Celebrates German Culture in Marina da Glória
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – After a successful debut last year, Oktoberfest Rio returns to Marina da Glória in 2019. The event will take place over two weekends — from October 18th to 20th and from October 25th to 27th, with over twenty shows by Brazilian performers and German folklore groups, with numerous brands of beer available during the daily twelve-hour events.

The second edition of Oktoberfest Rio features prominent national rock names. Ira, Barão Vermelho, and Humberto Gessinger take to the stage on the first day (18th) and pledge to entertain the Marina da Glória. On Saturday (19th), Paulinho Moska, Nando Reis, and Rodrigo Santos will gather to energize the audience. Cláudio Zoli, Gabriel O Pensador and Detonautas are Sunday night’s stars (20th).
The second weekend of the event will feature Frejat, Biquini Cavadão, and Fernanda Abreu, rocking on Friday night (25th). On the 26th, Blitz, Léo Jaime and Leoni will perform the greatest hits of the ’80s. Closing the event, Raimundos, Plebe Rude, and CPM 22 will perform on Sunday (26th).
The festival boasts more than fifty beer brands and a great gastronomic variety, available in food courts and renowned food trucks. During the festival’s six days, the Marina da Glória will feature special German-style décor. Community tables, an à la carte restaurant, an official beer bar, a shots bar, and tasting booths, a small exhibitor’s tent and an open-air area complete the attractions available to the general public.
Ninety thousand visitors are expected in the 15,000 square meter area, divided into two venues, each with its own stage. On the German side, the program includes Folk Dance, a beer by meter competition, and the bands BauemBand, Hochsollerleben, Bauernjazz, and Hausmusikanten, which feature a traditional repertoire.
According to the Oktoberfest Rio organization, the purpose of the event is to offer visitors a wealth of German culture through music, dance, and typical gastronomy, preserving its customs and atmosphere. All this will be combined with the best of Brazil: the joy of the hosts, a privileged setting and our musical quality.
