“Nossos Naïfs Brasileiros” Exhibition in Rio

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Galeria Evandro Carneiro Arte, in Gávea, Rio de Janeiro, will be hosting the “Nossos Naïfs Brasileiros” exhibition from August 17th to September 14th. The show includes forty paintings by various artists.

The exhibition features the works “O Parque” by JMS (Júlio Martins da Silva), “Mocinha lendo Carolina” by Elza de Oliveira Souza, “A Sanfoneira” by Miranda, among others. The pieces belonged to Lucien Finkelstein’s collection and are for sale.

“Douanier” Rousseau was the exponent of modern naïve art. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, he produced the most beautiful and exotic forests, vegetation and animals, which, to the amazement of the great masters of the time, he said he found right there, in a garden near where he lived.
