What it is

Main Event Entertainment Group provides entertainment promotion, agency, and management services in Jamaica, planning, coordinating, and delivering diverse entertainment and event-related experiences, as well as advertising, marketing, digital signage, audio, film, and corporate communications services to clients. Its lifestyle and experience brand is called M Style XP.

Since launching in 2004, the company has traded on the vision of principals Richard Bair and Solomon Sharpe, who had been partnering since 1990 as RAS Promotions — the need for deeper brand experiences made a full company the logical next step. It raised JMD 120M (roughly US$768K) at JMD 2 per share in January 2017 when it went public through an initial public offering.

Who owns it

The largest shareholder is MEEG Holdings Limited, which holds a 68.5% interest in the company. MEEG Holdings is a St Lucia-registered international business company co-owned by the two founders, Solomon Sharpe and Richard Bair.

Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) purchased a 10% stake in April 2021 at JMD 3.50 (US$0.02)per share from MEEG Holdings, and Mayberry Jamaican Equities Limited has held shares since the IPO. The remaining roughly 21.5% constitutes the public free float (our calculation).

Who runs it

Main Event is headed by CEO Solomon Sharpe and chaired by Dr Ian Blair. Sharpe addresses shareholders directly at annual meetings; seated beside him is Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer Richard Bair.

Bair currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day commercial and financial operations of the business and with oversight of large-scale projects and events. No dedicated CFO title was disclosed in available sources.

The money, in plain words

For the full year ended October 31, 2024, the company reported sales of JMD 1,717.6M (~US$10.99M), down from JMD 1,921.9 (US$12)M the prior year; net profit was JMD 70.1M (~US$448K), against JMD 207.4 (US$1)M a year before. That means it kept just 4.1 cents of profit from every dollar of sales — a net profit margin of 4.1% — compared to 10.8% in FY2023, a severe compression in a single year (our calculations).

The gross margin — what the business keeps before overhead — fell to 45% from 50% a year earlier, as higher operational costs to execute events in an increasingly competitive market ate into revenue gains. In FY2025 (the year ending October 31, 2025), revenue recovered to JMD 1.85B (~US$11.83M), a 7.5% rise.

But the company swung to a net loss of roughly JMD 5.2M (~US$33K) — its first annual loss in years — as the cost of staging its own productions outweighed the top-line gain.

What it is doing now

Main Event, long known for executing other companies’ events, is now turning the spotlight on itself, pivoting to proprietary events at a time of rising pressure. The pivot toward producing its own events drove much of the revenue growth, with proprietary and collaborative events contributing 11% of its JMD 1.85 (US$0.01)B in FY2025 revenue as the primary driver of growth.

The company allocated resources to produce the Jamaica Auto Show — an idea years in the making — staging the event May 10–11 at the National Arena and Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston, in partnership with Mystique Integrated and iPrint Group. CEO Solomon Sharpe called the debut “very encouraging” in a post-AGM interview.

What to watch

• Margin recovery: The pivot toward producing its own events drives revenue growth but squeezes profitability — the key question is whether proprietary events reach sufficient scale to cover their higher fixed costs.
• External shocks: Jamaica was hit by Hurricane Beryl in July 2024; following its impact, the entertainment sector saw a reduction in events and amusement licences. Climate and consumer-spending risks are structural for this business.
• Falling share price: As of mid-June 2026, MEEG was trading at JMD 6.00, (US$0.04)against a 52-week range of JMD 4.31 (US$0.03)to JMD 9.97 (US$0.06)— the stock has more than halved from its 2023 peak of JMD 17.50, (US$0.11)pricing in the profit slump but leaving little room for further disappointment.
• New revenue lines: Sharpe has hinted at other sectors being explored, saying there are “some things in the pipeline that will be hard for our competitors to replicate.”
