Lula says Bolsonaro will still have to face “many lawsuits”

By · July 7, 2023 · 1 min read

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT, left) stated on Thursday (July 6) that his predecessor and nemesis, Jair Bolsonaro (PL, right), will face numerous lawsuits as he believes Bolsonaro was the most unconventional president Brazil has ever had.

Lula made these remarks in response to the recent decision by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) that rendered Bolsonaro ineligible for eight years starting from June 30.

During an interview with SBT, Lula commented, “I do not discuss judicial decisions. The former president will have to face multiple lawsuits. He knows that he will face numerous lawsuits due to his own actions.”

“Since the Republic’s proclamation, this country has never had such an unconventional individual holding the presidential office.”

Lula da Silva has been criticized several times since the beginning of his term for his vindictiveness toward Bolsonaro.

His PT party and the highest bodies of the Brazilian judicial system are closely intertwined, similar to what can be observed in Venezuela and Nicaragua.
