Juan Grabois is the new presidential candidate in Argentina

The lawyer, writer, and referent of the Frente Patria Grande announced the first official pre-candidacy to participate in the Argentine presidential elections of next October 22 within the official coalition Frente de Todos.

“It is time to put life at the center: that is what it is all about to think of a human Argentina” is the main idea that summarizes the official pre-candidacy of Juan Grabois as official pre-candidate within the official conglomerate Frente de Todos, for the next Simultaneous and Mandatory Open Primary Elections (PASO) on August 13.

The lawyer, teacher, writer, and social leader is the founder of the Movimiento de Trabajadores Excluidos and of the Confederación de Trabajadores de la Economía Popular, and referent of the Frente Patria Grande, a conglomerate that groups different types of social militancy belonging to the official Frente de Todos.

Grabois, born into a Catholic family in the wealthy Buenos Aires neighborhood of San Isidro, is a State Theory professor at the University of Buenos Aires Law School.

In 2016 he participated as a consultant appointed by Pope Francis to the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. He has served as a human rights observer in conflict zones in various latitudes.

Grabois’ candidacy is the first to be made official within the ruling Frente de Todos, which maintains unofficial pre-candidatures to date, among which stand out the pre-candidacy of the Argentine president Alberto Fernández in search of a not discarded re-election.

Other unconfirmed pre-candidates are the current Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo Wado de Pedro, and the current Argentine ambassador in Brazil, Daniel Scioli, among others.

“Argentina is a great country, not only because of its territorial extension and natural assets but mainly because of its people.”

“How is it possible that there are so many people without a roof over their heads to live in a country with so much land?”, Grabois’ candidacy states,

He also affirms that what is generated by the work of the Argentine people “should not go up in smoke through the IMF’s gutter and capital flight, nor be destined to swell the pockets of the usual four or five people. We do not want to manage their leftovers”.

In turn, launching the first official pre-candidacy within the ranks of the Frente de Todos comes at a time when the consolidation of political unity within the government conglomerate has not been entirely easy internally.

“I do not accept [Sergio] Massa, Alberto [Fernández], nor [Daniel] Scioli. We want to dispute that in a coalition internal,” Grabois affirmed to the Argentine media Perfil.

As a representative of the Frente Patria Grande, he is not willing to assume the designation of a candidate of the Justicialist Party in a vertical way.

“We do it within the Frente de Todos because unity is key to avoiding the return of the right wing, defending our rights, and conquering those we lack. As Cristina taught us, courage is fundamental to make the necessary transformations for the country,” stressed the Frente Patria Grande.

“We, as a militant generation, want, with that vocation of confronting the concentrated power, to propose a project different from the one of Alberto Fernández’s government, but disputing within the framework of a coalition”, stated Grabois last March 6, in the television program Brotes Verdes of the C5N channel.
