In June, the SSP-SP announced the establishment of a working group to review the crime statistics for 2022.
The SPVida (System of Information and Prevention of Crimes against Life) was created to provide cases in map format and through police reports.
However, rape cases in the state of São Paulo continued to increase, rising by 18.5% in May with 1,299 registered cases.
The secretariat emphasized that police action is no longer dependent on the victims’ consent, enabling law enforcement to act independently.
Additionally, the data released indicated a 1.7% increase in robbery cases in May, with 50,171 registered incidents.
