Evangelical front rejects Lula da Silva’s claims that churches were responsible for Covid-19 deaths

The Evangelical Parliamentary Front of the National Congress (FPE) in Brazil issued a protest note this Friday (Nov. 25).

They are repudiating the statements of President-elect Lula da Silva (PT, progressives-globalists), who said yesterday that he could hold churches responsible for the deaths caused by Covid-19 if they do not participate in campaigns for vaccination against the coronavirus.

The statement is signed by deputy Sóstenes Cavalcante, president of the block.

According to the statement, in complementing his speech, anti-evangelical Lula da Silva said that he would “catch a lot of people”, demonstrating a clear intention to persecute the Evangelical community.

He did not refer to any other religious organization, union, or any other segment of society that defends the broad freedom of choice of its members.

“Speeches like this reinforce the need to continue calling on our society to reflect on the foundations and principles that will guide the Republic, should Lula da Silva assume and remain in the presidency,” the note says.

“Since such speech leads the country to the fearful path of discrimination, prejudice, and religious intolerance, specifically against Evangelicals,” says the Evangelical caucus.

“Given the fateful case, the FPE comes out to repudiate any action or act of discrimination or prejudice, especially of religious intolerance, as well as reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the equity and defense of the right to freedom of choice not only of the Evangelical community but of all Brazilian people.”

“It is also worth noting that the Evangelical Parliamentary Front does not agree with any violation of an individual or collective rights, as it acts and acts in a strictly legal way and following the higher law of the country, our Constitution,” reinforces the note.

“In short, we reaffirm the suitability of the evangelical community and demand respect.”
