Embraer unveils first simulator for Millennium C-390 multi-mission aircraft

Embraer recently unveiled its inaugural Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for the C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft at the Embraer Academy in São José dos Campos.

The simulator, constructed by German firm Rheinmetall, is set to serve customers’ training demands for basic and advanced pilot training, reducing costs and risk.

Johann Bordais, the CEO of Embraer Services & Support, remarked that Brazil, Portugal, and Hungary would be the first to utilize the device, which enables safe execution of maneuvers, emergency procedures, and training under various flight conditions.

Mike Schmidt, Rheinmetall Aviation Services CEO, expressed pride in collaborating with Embraer and anticipated further devices for global aircraft operators’ training.

The Level D-rated simulator offers more than 350 simulated failures and supports normal, emergency, and military operations, ensuring user-friendly maintenance and comfortable usage for trainees.

The C-390 is a tactical military transport aircraft, boasting high mobility, productivity, flexibility, and low operational costs.

It can transport more cargo and cover more distance at higher speeds and perform various missions including cargo and troop transport, aeromedical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian missions.

Since its 2019 service inception, the C-390 has proven its reliability, capability, and performance.

Its five-aircraft fleet, all aerial refueling versions designated KC-390, has amassed over 8,900 flight hours and displayed an impressive mission completion rate of over 99%.

NATO members Portugal and Hungary have placed orders for the C-390 Millennium, with the Netherlands expressing interest in 2022.
