Brazil’s São Paulo expects US$1.1 billion in business deals struck during Dubai trip

By · October 28, 2021 · 1 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The economic mission led by the São Paulo government this week on a trip to the United Arab Emirates could bring in US$1.1 billion over four years if business from exports, partnerships, and logistical benefits obtained through agreements are added. This calculation was made by Governor João Doria (PSDB).

To arrive at this figure, he added information from companies that have made sales in the Middle East to the data obtained through agreements between the São Paulo state government and groups.

One of them is DP World, an Arab company that operates one of the largest terminals in the port of Santos. It also examined agreements with entities such as the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In the case of DP World, the deal provides for tariff reductions depending on the use of the terminal.

In some cases, agreements between companies were well advanced and signed or confirmed during the delegation trip.

However, there were also cases of companies new to this market, such as Colormaq, a manufacturer of popular washing machines from Araçatuba in the interior of São Paulo.
