Brazilian Woman Found Dead in Hotel Room in Santiago, Chile

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A 35-year-old Brazilian woman was found dead in a hotel room on Saturday, July 6th, in Santiago, Chile. According to her boyfriend in São Paulo, Giovanna Elias Bardi was on a four-day trip by herself.

The resident of Sorocaba (SP), a city just outside of São Paulo, worked as a translator and scheduled the tour to get to know the country on her own.

She last made contact with him on Thursday night. Her family and the boyfriend, Leandro Bonello, were worried when she did not answer calls and did not reply to messages on Friday morning.

According to Leandro, they managed to get in touch with the hotel where she was staying. The translator was found dead.

Brazil’s Foreign Office reported to the G1 news site that Giovanna’s case had been referred to the Consulate in Santiago. Procedures for the transfer of the body are underway.

According to her boyfriend, the cause of death is yet to be determined. There is no set time for the body to be released.
