The government of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which began last January 1, has 41 percent approval among Brazilians, according to a survey by Inteligencia en Investigación y Consultoría Estratégica (Ipec) released by the Brazilian press.

According to the opinion poll released this Sunday by the news network O’Globo, after two and a half months in office, the level of citizen approval (41 percent) that the current government has is higher than the 34 percent that former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022) had at the beginning of his term.

Forty-one percent of Brazilians surveyed considered the current government’s management “good” or “excellent”.

In comparison, 30 percent responded that its performance is “regular” and 24 percent that it is “bad” or “lousy”.

Citizen evaluation of the beginning of the third term of Lula da Silva, who previously governed between 2003 and 2010, is now below that obtained at the beginning of the two previous times, the first of them in 2003 with 51 percent, while in 2007, he had 49 percent.

The executive director of Ipec, Márcia Cavallari, told the newspaper O’Globo that despite the “difference” with previous mandates, the Brazilian president is at a “good level” since among the citizens who consider his management as “regular”, half approve of the way he governs.

The survey indicates that the Northeast region, the poorest in the South American country, is where the favorable rating has the highest margin with 53 percent “good” or “excellent”.

On the other hand, the least positive evaluation of Lula da Silva’s administration is found in the central-west and northern Amazon regions, with 31 percent.

According to the organization, the way of exercising power by the Brazilian president was evaluated beyond the results of his government.
