Brazilian Navy and Embraer to work together on radar development

The General Directorate of Nuclear and Technological Development of the Brazilian Navy and Embraer signed a technical cooperation agreement to study and analyze the future development of radar and interferometer systems for use in electronic countermeasures operations (CME).

The agreement between the two institutions, signed during the last edition of Mostra BID Brasil, contributes to the National Defense Strategy, especially in terms of technological development, and seeks to identify the degree of technological and industrial maturity of radar systems for the future production of such equipment, which represents an increase in the operational capacity of the Naval Force with high national technological content.

“Both institutions have experience and recognized projects in the areas covered by the agreement and will collaboratively study sustainable national solutions that meet their respective demands, based on the search for development to obtain indigenous scientific, technological and innovative knowledge, goods and services,” said the general director of Nuclear and Technological Development of the Navy, Fleet Admiral Petrônio Augusto Siqueira de Aguiar.

STRENGTHENING THE DEFENSE INDUSTRIAL BASE

The studies to be carried out jointly by Embraer and the Navy’s Scientific and Technological Institutions (ICT) will analyze the development levels of the systems above, as well as the possibility of their integrated operations with combat systems or command and control systems.

Thus, the initiative is considered strategic for the country’s defense area since it represents an opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge already acquired in previous projects and to contribute to the prospecting and promotion of the national industry.
