Construction in Brazil Has Cost Increase of 0.44 Percent in August

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The National Civil Construction Index (Sinapi) registered inflation of 0.44 percent in August this year. The rate is lower than the 0.68 percent in July, but higher than the 0.36 percent in August of last year.

According to data released on September 6th, by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Sinapi shows inflation rates of 3.11 percent for the year and 4.50 percent in 12 months. With this, the national cost of construction per square meter rose to R$1,148.65 (US$280) in August.

The price of construction materials rose 0.72 percent in August and the square meter cost was R$602.23. Labor, on the other hand, had inflation of 0.13 percent and began to cost R$546.42 per square meter.
