Brazil: Homicides drop 30% in November in the state of Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - In the state of Rio de Janeiro, murders fell 30% in November compared to the same month in 2020. In the year to date, the reduction was 8%.

From January to November this year, there were 3,008 victims, and last month, 228. These were the lowest numbers for November and 11 months since the beginning of the historical series of the Institute of Public Safety (ISP) in 1991. The data were released today (21).

The state also recorded a 28% drop in November in intentional violent crimes, including murder, bodily injury, death, and robbery. In . . .
