Less Than two Weeks Until the Rio International Book Biennial Opens

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The most significant literary event in Brazil is coming up. The “Bienal Internacional do Livro do Rio” — Rio International Book Biennial — will take place at convention and event center “Riocentro” in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, from August 30th to September 8th.

This major event has been taking place for 38 years. It began in 1983 at the Copacabana Palace Hotel. Today, the Biennial welcomes hundreds of thousands of people every two years at Riocentro.

The 2019 edition will feature guest attractions such as Luis Fernando Veríssimo, on August 31st, at Arena #SemFiltro. The day before, at Café Literário (Literary Café), there will be another famous writer — Luiz Antonio Simas. Sérgio Rodrigues will be at the same Café Literário, but on August 31st. Evidently, the event will include other great attractions.

Such features will please all kinds of readers, from classics to modern and networked. Consecrated writers and internet news will be present.

This year, the Biennial will have novelties, immediately upon arrival. Traditionally on the side of Riocentro, which gave direct access to the exhibition, the entrance to this edition will be through the “Pavilhão das Artes” area, where the largest permanent indoor exhibition of street art in Latin America is located.

The plan of the event underwent changes and was redesigned to allocate each public profile in different environments and thus ease the interaction of publishers with their target audience.
