Brazil’s former President, socialist Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has 44% of the electoral vote compared to 34% for conservative President Jair Bolsonaro, who is up by two points.
This is according to a poll published today by the Quaest agency in view of the elections on Oct. 2.
Lula da Silva of the Workers’ Party (PT, left) maintained the same score as in the August poll, while Bolsonaro of the Liberal Party (PL, right) gained two points, an increase within Quaest’s margin of error.
Meanwhile, Lula da Silva lost one point compared to July, when he had 45%, while Bolsonaro gained 3 units, having received 31% of the electoral vote two months ago.
The poll, released Wednesday (7), showed Ciro Gomes of the center-left Democratic Labor Party (PDT) at 7%, followed by Simone Tebet of the conservative Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB) at 4%.
If no candidate receives more than 50% in the first round on Oct. 2, a runoff will be held on Oct. 30.
