Despite uncertainties, Brazilian tourism sector recovers thanks to rising domestic demand

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The tourism sector went into alert mode with the Omicron variant, but still shows optimism with the resumption of travel by Brazilians.

In resorts, the expectation is that the suspension of New Year's Eve parties by several cities may even favor some ventures.

"The cancellations of public New Year's Eve parties cause an inverse demand, taking [tourists] out of the public place and taking them to private and more reserved places," said Sérgio Souza, president of Resorts Brasil.
