Brazilian deflation in September stronger than the previous month and reached 0.90%
The General Price Index – 10 (IGP-10) recorded a deflation (price decline) of 0.90% in September.
The decline was more significant than the previous month (-0.69%).
The data were released today (16) by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
With this result, the index accumulates inflation rates of 7.45% for the year and 8.24% over 12 months.

In September last year, the index registered a deflation of 0.37% for the month.
The Wholesale Price Index (IPA) declined 1.18% in September, up from -0.65% recorded in the previous month.
The Consumer Price Index (IPC), which measures the retail market, also continued to register deflation, but at a higher rate, falling from -1.56% in August to -0.14% in September.
The National Construction Cost Index (INCC) fell from inflation of 0.74% in August to deflation of 0.02% in September.
INFLATION OF 6% FOR THE YEAR?
Jair Bolsonaro said Thursday (15) during a live-recorded event in Rio de Janeiro that his government intends to bring inflation down to about 6% by the end of 2022.
“The inflation forecast has come down, and we intend to end the year with inflation at around 6%. In Europe and the United States, inflation is a little above that,” he said.
