Army Officer Murdered in Front of Family in Rio de Janeiro Suburb
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Army Petty Officer Bruna Carla Borralho Cavalcante de Araújo was murdered in front of her husband, sister, and nephews during a robbery on Sunday night, August 30th, at Presidente Kennedy Avenue, in Duque de Caxias, Baixada Fluminense.
Bruna’s husband said that he stopped the family car between a station and the Pilar Church because the vehicle heated up – it was 10:00 PM.
He had just got out of the car when he heard his wife screaming and announcing the robbery. Then he heard two shots.

Bruna’s sister and her nephews were forced to get out and the criminals fled with the vehicle.
Bruna was rushed to Pilar’s Ready Care Unit (UPA) but did not survive. She had been stationed at the 21st Paratrooper Battalion.
The Baixada Fluminense Homicide Police Precinct is investigating the case.
In a note, the Social Communication Section of the Eastern Military Command reported that it “is providing all its support to the family, as well as the necessary administrative measures to clarify the facts.”
