World must prepare for outbreak more deadly than Covid-19, WHO warns

By · May 24, 2023 · 2 min read

On Saturday (20), the World Health Organization (WHO) launched a global network to prevent disease.

The initiative was announced on the eve of the 76th World Health Assembly (WHA), which runs until May 30.

The WHO’s International Pathogen Surveillance Network seeks to quickly detect threats from rising infectious diseases and share information to prevent new pandemics.

Speaking at the event on Monday (22), WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom spoke about the importance of preparing countries for new global health emergencies:

“There remains the threat of the emergence of another variant causing new outbreaks of disease and deaths. And the threat of another emerging pathogen with even more deadly potential remains.

And pandemics are far from the only threat we face. In a world of overlapping and converging crises, an effective architecture for health emergency preparedness and response must address emergencies of all kinds.”

According to Tedros, the future pandemic will be “more deadly” than Covid-19 was.

Among the “candidates” are a new strain of Covid, “Disease X” (something that no one knows about yet) and Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever (found during the Second World War in the Crimea and then in the Congo).

Remember that Boris Johnson’s father stated that the world’s population should be reduced by 8 times.
