Vivo Grows Fast in Q2 2025: Telefônica Brasil’s Strong Results Shape Brazil’s Digital Future

Telefônica Brasil, the parent company of Vivo, has posted strong financial results for the second quarter of 2025. The company recorded a net profit of R$1.34 billion ($239 million), which is 10% higher than last year.

Its total revenue grew to R$14.6 billion ($2.61 billion), up more than 7%. These results show Telefônica Brasil’s steady grip on Brazil’s fast-growing telecom market.

Vivo’s core business—mobile services—accounted for R$9.56 billion ($1.71 billion) of revenue. This came from more people switching to postpaid plans and new customers joining the network.

Ninety million Brazilians now use Vivo’s mobile services, and nearly 70% are on postpaid contracts. That gives Vivo nearly 39% of the national mobile market, keeping it as Brazil’s clear leader.

The company is also betting on fast internet. Its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service now reaches 30.1 million homes, a 10% rise versus the year before. Fiber business revenue hit R$1.94 billion ($347 million).

To expand further, Telefônica bought a bigger share in FiBrasil, a neutral fiber company, for R$850 million ($152 million). Now owning 75% of FiBrasil gives Telefônica greater control over network infrastructure serving millions of homes.

It also enables smaller telecoms to rent space on its lines, supporting Brazil’s push for wider internet access. Even while investing more, Telefônica Brasil kept cost increases below revenue growth.

Operating costs (excluding depreciation and amortization) rose just 5.9% to R$8.71 billion ($1.56 billion). This discipline lifted profit margins, with EBITDA reaching R$5.93 billion ($1.06 billion) and margin improving to 40.5%.

What is the bigger story here? Telefônica Brasil proves that running a disciplined, locally-focused business pays off in Brazil’s huge but tough market. Reliable mobile and fiber services reach more people, helping them work, study, and connect.

This supports the country’s digital economy and closes the gap between richer and poorer towns. Investors benefit, too: in 2025, Telefônica Brasil will pay out R$5.2 billion ($929 million) to shareholders, showing faith in growth and cash flow.
