The Chilean Army presents its war material maintenance capabilities to the Argentine Army

The Army Logistic Regiment (RLE) Nº 3 Limache gave Lieutenant Colonel Federico Devoto of the Argentine Army a presentation of the maintenance services it provides to the armament and war material of the Chilean Army.

According to the unit’s social networks that depend on the institution’s Logistics Division (Divlog), the Argentine officer visited its facilities on April 19 to learn about its different maintenance capabilities.

The commander of the Telecommunications and Optical Instruments Company of the Maestranza Battalion and the unit’s senior non-commissioned officer showed Lieutenant Colonel Devoto the tasks associated with the maintenance carried out by this unit.

During his visit, the visitor interacted with the personnel of RLE Nº 3 Limache and learned about the capabilities and competencies of the personnel who provide essential support for the direct benefit of the units of the Land Force and the Generating Force of the Chilean Army.

GENERATING COMBAT POWER

RLE Nº 3 Limache maintains the military inventory and contributes to achieving the institution’s operational capacity.

It has personnel and facilities that allow preventive and recuperative maintenance of armament, equipment, accessories, combat and support vehicles, engineering, and telecommunications material.

The unit has played an important role in the modernization process of the Chilean Army in recent years, which has involved incorporating more sophisticated weapons systems that require complex maintenance.

In 2003, the institution received 158 M113A2 acquired secondhand from the United States.

RLE Nº 3 Limache carried out the integral recovery and overhaul process.

The process took 21 months, and the tanks of different configurations were destined for the mechanized infantry battalions in the country’s north.

The institution entrusted this unit with the maintenance and repair of optical and optronic instruments used in different types of armament.

It has an optronics workshop with a modern, clean room that eliminates humidity condensation that affects night sighting scopes, infrared scopes, laser designators, thermal cameras, laser rangefinders, and goniometers.

RLE Nº 3 Limache is the first Army military maintenance unit to receive ISO 9001 certification.

In 2013, it certified the processes of the Administrative Vehicles and Institutional Plants Company, subsequently expanding to the Telecommunications, Optical and Optronic Instruments Company; the Mastery Support Company; the Armament Company and Vehicle Company; and the Finance, 4th Logistics, Procurement, Supply, Engineering and Control, and Risk Management Office sections.
