São Paulo Government starts works for two new stations of Metro 15-Silver Line

The governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia, authorized today (Dec. 15) the beginning of expansion works of the monorail Line 15-Silver, which now must reach Jacu Pêssego.

According to the São Paulo government, two new stations – Boa Esperança and Jacu Pêssego – and a parking yard will be built.

The investment will be R$1.8 billion (US$339 million), and the conclusion of the work is forecast for 2025.

The work is expected to benefit 90,000 people daily, reducing the travel time from the city’s far east side to the center of São Paulo by half.

The government informed that the new stations will follow the pattern of the other stations of line 15 and will be 15 meters high.

Both will be installed in the central median of Ragueb Chohfi Avenue, with exposed concrete and roofing to facilitate ventilation and natural lighting. They will also have automatic platform doors and accessibility items.

The Boa Esperança Station will be the first to be inaugurated, being installed right after Jardim Colonial.

The government expects 7,500 passengers to pass through the station every day. Jacu Pêssego will have an expected demand of up to 80,000 passengers per day.

Currently, the 15-Prata line has 11 stations and 14.6 km and connects the southeast region to the far east region of the capital, from Vila Prudente to Jardim Colonial.

With the expansion, the line will be 17.6 km long and is expected to meet a demand of 480,000 passengers per day.
