Paulo Guedes’ farewell: Brazilian minister asks for a vacation and no longer returns to the Ministry of Economy
Paulo Guedes is not coming back. The Brazilian Minister of Economy of the government of Jair Bolsonaro left this Monday (19) the federal administration to never return.
At the minister’s request, President Jair Bolsonaro signed the economist’s vacation for the period from December 19 to 31, 2022. As of January 1, 2023, Fernando Haddad takes over the Ministry of Finance and is responsible for the economic management of the federal government.
Known in the financial market as “posto Ipiranga”, Guedes has also vacated Granja do Torto, the official presidential residence occupied by the minister in recent years. This Monday (19), moving trucks were already removing Guedes’ goods.

GUEDES AT THE PRESIDENCY’S RESIDENCE
President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is expected to occupy the site immediately and move to the Alvorada Palace when current President Jair Bolsonaro leaves the site, with no date set for this yet. So far, Lula da Silva has been staying in a hotel in the federal capital.
Granja do Torto is one of the official residences of the Presidency of the Republic. It is located on the outskirts of Plano Piloto and has the characteristics of a country house. Its name is related to its location, at Fazenda do Riacho Torto, in Brasília.
A farm for the supply of eggs and chickens was also built on the land. According to the presidency, the site has 37 hectares, including an artificial lake and stream, swimming pool, soccer field, sports court, barbecue area, helipad and native forest area.
