RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Contrary to what the authorities have reported, the novel coronavirus was artificially manufactured in a Chinese laboratory, presumably in the second half of 2019, says Luc Montagnier, winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology.

The French scientist says that “the city of Wuhan’s high-security laboratory has specialized in this type of virus, the coronavirus, since the early 2000s. They have expertise in this. This made me look closely at the RNA sequencing of the virus. I conducted this study, as did the mathematician Jean-Claude Perez, an expert in biomathematics”.

In analyzing the details of the sequencing, a group of Indian researchers published a study with the complete gene of this coronavirus, which showed that it contained sequences of another virus.

“This was a surprise to me because it was exactly HIV.” He rejects that it could be a mutation from an AIDS patient. He claims it was necessarily manufactured in a laboratory from another virus.

“The story that it originated from a fish market is a tale.” Montagnier speculated that the Chinese were developing an AIDS vaccine, and used a coronavirus for that purpose. The coronavirus causing Covid-19 would then have been developed by accident and spread.

He gave this statement to Radio ‘Frequénce Médicale’. The issue grows more severe since Chinese authorities have been suppressing the release of research on the virus’ origin, which has raised doubts among scientists.

“The Iranians have admitted to having crashed a plane by mistake. The Chinese should also admit the mistake, for the sake of science.” In recent days, US Vice President Mike Pompeo said there were many questions about the origin of the coronavirus. French President Emmanuel Macron also voiced his doubts in an interview with the Financial Times.

The US Embassy in Beijing had already alerted some weeks ago to the need for greater control over the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), the center that would be in charge of the virus. It features a high-security laboratory, built with the help of France, named the “P4”.

There are reports that the team in charge of producing the novel coronavirus was multinational, including US funding. The novel coronavirus would have been produced from a virus ‘cocktail’ that includes HIV and the coronavirus present in bats, a WIV expertise.

The thesis is causing controversy among French laboratories and has already been challenged by scientists at the Pasteur Institute and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). According to Montagnier, since it is artificial, the novel coronavirus tends to be eliminated by nature over time. On the US east coast, studies have allegedly shown that it would be mitigated. “But there will be many deaths by then,” says the Frenchman.
