Don’t miss the opportunity to see the six schools São Clemente, Portela, Beija-Flor, União da Ilha, Imperatriz and Unidos da Tijuca show their parades in competing for the 2015 Carnival championship crown.
The Carnival parades are not only colorful spectacles, but also a serious competition with great glory awaiting the winning school and an opportunity to parade again in the Champions’ Parade next weekend for the six best schools.

The second night of the Special Group samba school parades will take over the Sambódromo tonight. Don’t miss the opportunity to see traditional schools, such as Portela, Unidos da Tijuca and Beija-Flor parade for the 2015 samba championship title.

Blocos (Various Locations)
Carnival 2015 is in full force and with that the blocos, as the street parties are known, will take over Rio de Janeiro today. Thematic bloco Sargento Pimento, mixing Beatles with samba, will play in the Aterro do Flamengo near the Marina da Glória at 3PM. Bloco De Segunda will take over Botafogo at 4PM near Rua Marques and Bandinha de Ipanema will provide an opportunity for the children to show this year’s costumes at 4PM on Praça General Osório. Balança Meu Catete in Catete at 5PM, Banda Sa Ferreira at 5:30 PM in Copcabana and Cinebloco at 7PM on Praça XV in Centro are other blocos that draw the crowds.

CLUBS:
Rio Boat Club (Marina da Glória)
A two-story boat turns into a nightclub complete with top DJs and a happy hour with two for one drinks for men and free drinks for women before midnight. Once the cruise starts, there are some amazing views to take in as the boat travels around Guanabara Bay.

JP Silva, Johnnys and more (Lapa)
Tonight JP Silva, Johnnys and the DJs Chicote and Márlio will continue the Carnival spirit at Lapa’s Leviano. The roda de samba will start at 9PM and Johnnys at midnight.

MÚSICA BRASILEIRA:
Roda de Samba Pedra do Sal (Gamboa)
Classic roda de samba with an emphasis on the music’s African roots is back at Pedra do Sal in the Gamboa area of Centro tonight. The weekly event is considered by many to be one of the most authentic rodas de samba in the city.

Luiza Dionizio and Makley Mattos(Lapa)
For more dancing and singing, head to Lapa’s Carioca da Gema tonight. The venue will come alive at 10:30 PM with three hours of live samba provided by Luiza Dionizio and Makley Mattos. Marcelle Motta will get things warmed up at 8:30 PM.

Shenanigan’s Live Music (Ipanema)
With live music and classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Happy Hour is dose dupla (two for one) on Mondays through Fridays 6PM-8PM.

Mab’s Restaurant and Bar (Copacabana)
This American-owned restaurant and bar on Copacabana Beach is a great place for food and drinks. Additionally, every night Tony Boka is performing live from 8PM until midnight. Boka is known for his varied repertoire that always pleases the crowd.
