LATAM Secures 12-Year High in Brazil’s Domestic Market

By · September 26, 2025 · 2 min read

ANAC data released September 2025 shows LATAM Airlines Brasil captured 41.4 percent of Brazil’s domestic air travel in August, its strongest share since July 2013. This achievement follows the carrier’s strategic expansion after exiting bankruptcy protection in late 2022.

LATAM filled 86.4 percent of its domestic seats in August, marking its second-highest load factor of 2025. Only July reached a higher rate, at 87.6 percent. These figures underline robust demand and efficient capacity management.

Since 2021, LATAM added operations at 15 more Brazilian airports, growing from 44 to 59 locations. This network boost stems from targeted service launches aimed at underserved regions and tourism hubs.

In the first half of 2025, the airline increased its domestic seat capacity (ASK) by 8.5 percent and forecasts a year-end rise between 9.5 and 10.5 percent.

During 2025, LATAM inaugurated seven new Brazilian bases: Pelotas, Fernando de Noronha, Ribeirão Preto, Campinas, Bonito, Dourados and Parnaíba.

These additions enable direct flights to remote areas and emerging markets, contributing to local economic development and improved connectivity.

Internationally, LATAM now serves 90 destinations and anticipates up to 11 percent growth in seat capacity. New routes launched this year include Fortaleza–Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro–Buenos Aires and Porto Alegre–Buenos Aires.

LATAM Expands Routes as Brazil’s Air Travel Rebounds

The airline also announced upcoming services from Florianópolis to Lima and São Paulo-Guarulhos to Córdoba. These expansions strengthen trade and tourism links across Latin America and with Europe.

LATAM competes alongside Gol and Azul, which together cover nearly all domestic traffic. In August, Gol held roughly 30 percent of demand while Azul maintained about 28 percent.

This concentrated market structure challenges carriers to balance capacity and pricing amid fluctuating fuel costs and currency shifts. Airline performance carries broader economic significance. Higher load factors reduce seat costs and promote affordable travel.

Expanded networks support business mobility, tourism growth and regional integration. For businesses, investors and policymakers, LATAM’s performance signals where infrastructure and partnerships can deliver the greatest impact.

This milestone matters because it reflects Brazil’s resilient recovery in air travel demand. LATAM’s record share demonstrates its operational strength and strategic focus on regional markets.

Observers should watch upcoming capacity projections and route launches, as these factors will shape Brazil’s aviation landscape and economic corridors in the coming months.
