LATAM Airlines Posts 3.1% Traffic Growth in February as International Routes Shine

LATAM Airlines Group reported a 3.1% increase in passenger traffic for February 2025 compared to the same month last year. The Chilean carrier announced these results on March 11, highlighting expanded capacity across its extensive network.

The airline transported over 6.5 million passengers during February, representing a 1.8% year-over-year growth. LATAM increased its total capacity by 4.4%, primarily driven by a significant 9.1% expansion in international operations.

Load factors fell slightly to 83.3%, down 1.1 percentage points from February 2024. The company noted slower growth compared to January’s stronger performance, citing weakness in Brazilian and South American domestic markets.

Brazilian domestic routes showed modest improvement with traffic rising 1.4% and capacity expanding 0.4%. The load factor for Brazilian flights reached 79.8%, up 0.8 percentage points. LATAM carried 2.65 million passengers within Brazil during February.

The company resumed strategic international connections from Porto Alegre to Santiago and Lima last month. These route restorations strengthened LATAM’s network that now spans 151 destinations across 27 countries.

Cargo operations also demonstrated growth with volumes increasing 2.6% year-over-year. Cargo capacity expanded 3.3% to reach 638 million available ton-kilometers. The cargo load factor dipped slightly to 53.4%.

February’s results contribute to positive year-to-date performance. LATAM has transported 14 million passengers in the first two months of 2025, up 3.9% from last year. The airline achieved an 84.1% load factor during this period.

LATAM also earned recognition for operational reliability. Aviation analytics firm Cirium ranked LATAM ninth globally for on-time performance in February at 81.97% across 44,435 flights.

The results indicate LATAM continues its recovery trajectory while navigating varying market conditions. International flight growth remains the key driver for the airline’s expansion strategy.
