Itapema’s $80 Million Boost in Tourism and Real Estate

Itapema, a scenic city on Brazil’s northern coast of Santa Catarina, is setting the stage for major tourism and urban enhancements with a $80 million investment.

Funds allocated for vital projects include enhancing Estaleirinho tourist sites, expanding beaches, and revitalizing the city’s waterfront.

The Rio Perequê Tourist Pier at Meia Praia, inspired by San Francisco’s Pier 39, is the flagship of these initiatives.

This project, costing $20 million, will feature a 220-meter-long and 30-meter-wide structure, including a significant portion over water.

Additionally, Itapema is expecting private sector contributions, notably a $30 million water park and a $20 million resort, further enriching its tourism offerings.

The city is simultaneously witnessing a real estate surge, paralleling the growth seen in nearby Balneário Camboriú.

Itapema’s property market is booming, with the issuance of building permits tripling recently, signaling a robust demand for real estate.

Property values soar, with beachfront properties doubling, reflected in a 19.52% price hike in 2023 per FipeZap Index.

These developments underscore Itapema‘s strategic move to enhance its appeal as a tourism destination and an investment hotspot.

In short, infrastructure and real estate efforts in the city set a precedent for sustainable urban and economic growth in the region.
