In Brazil gasoline prices are up almost 40% in 12 months

In a communiqué, IBGE economist Pedro Kislanov detailed that the increases in gas prices have been unceasing. “We have observed a sequence of increases in LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) at the refineries by Petrobras.”

“The distributors also apply the increases. With this, the price for the final consumer has been increasing every month. There have been 16 consecutive highs. In 12 months, gas has accumulated a 34.67% increase,” explains Kislanov.

The IBGE also detailed, in the communiqué, the other fuels that have also become more expensive. This is the case of ethanol (3.79%), vehicular gas (0.68%), and diesel oil (0.67%). In the case of ethanol, the institute said, this fuel has accumulated a 64.77% increase in the 12 months through September.

The institute informed that with the increase, fuel inflation stood at 2.43% in September, pressuring the price variation of the Transport Group, which accelerated to 1.82% last month, against 1.46% in August.
