Consisting of Brazilians Marcelo Camelo and Mallu Magalhães and Portuguese drummer Fred Ferreira, Banda do Mar is a Brazilian/Portuguese indie super group. Ferreira made a name for himself through his impressive drumming, while Magalhães is well known for her solo work as a vocalist and Camelo built a solid fan base through his contributions to pop and rock with the Brazilian band Los Hermanos.
Combined, the trio began to generate buzz early last year with the release of two songs, “Hey Nana” and “Mais Ninguem,” before the official release of their self-titled debut album during September of last year.

Tonight the Bootie Rio event returns to Fosfobox in Copacabana to celebrate five years of parties soundtracked by quality mashups. DJs André Paste, Schlaepfer, Moreira, Pipipi, and Richard L will spin in the subsolo (baement) and Folkatrua VJs will provide visuals. Additionally, Carol Stérica and Nina Monteiro will perform live. Fodástica (Centro)
Centro’s Espaço Acústica will be glowing tonight as it celebrates two years of the Fodástica party. The black lights will be on and free flourescent gloves will be distributed to the first 100 people to arrive. There will be a neon paint stand for everyone complete with neon lipstick. Neon rings, glowsticks and more will be distributed throughout the night. DJs Felipe Malfoy, Fernanda, Fabio Bout, and Lincoln Tassi will spin the best of pop, hits, funk, and electro on the Prime-Stage Pop, while DJs Alan Braz, Phil L Ferreira, and Guerraxx spin the best of pop-rock, indie and electronic indie on the Alternative stage.

Lapafest (Lapa)
The Lapafest party returns to the Leviano bar in Lapa tonigh with band Rio Esquema Novo starting things off with the best of samba hits, retro pagoda and MPB. The group Seu Bando will follow with the best of MPB, samba, soul, funk, pop and samba reggae. Additionally during the night, power trio Johnny’s will perform the best of international pop rock on the second floor. DJs Márilo and Ailton Areas will spin the best of samba, sambalanço, funk, hip hop and eletronic between the live music sets.
