Freedom Convoy: Canadian truckers send a powerful signal against compulsory Covid vaccinations

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In Canada too, resistance to the government’s compulsory vaccinations is growing steadily. Now, unvaccinated truck drivers have not been allowed to cross the Canadian border since January 15 (unless they then go into quarantine for two weeks, making it impossible for the drivers to work).

This profession, so important for the supply, has finally been driven to the barricades: Since Sunday, countless trucks have been driving through Canada in a huge convoy. The destination: the capital Ottawa. More precisely: the parliament. They are scheduled to arrive there on Saturday.

The “Freedom Convoy 2022” enjoys massive support among the population. Numerous video recordings show not only the mass of trucks on the roads but also cheering people at the roadside who support the drivers’ cause.

This support is also reflected financially: The campaign organizers have set up a GoFundMe donation page.

So far, a whopping 5.9 million Canadian dollars has been raised to pay for fuel and meals for the drivers. On the campaign page, the truckers explain their cause as follows:

To our fellow Canadians: the time for political hubris is over. Our current government is implementing rules and regulations that are destroying the foundation of our businesses, industries, and livelihoods. Canadians have in many ways been an integral part of the fabric of humanity that has shaped the planet.

We are a peaceful country that has helped protect nations around the world from tyrannical governments that have oppressed their people, and now it appears that the same is happening here. We are taking our fight to the doorstep of our federal government and calling on them to end all mandates against their people.

Small businesses are being destroyed, homes are being destroyed, people are being mistreated and denied the necessities of life. It is our duty as Canadians to put an end to these mandates.

It is imperative that we do so because if we do not, our country will no longer be the country we have come to love. We are doing this for our future generations and to take back our lives.

TRUDEAU: “UNACCEPTABLE VIEWS”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is trying to downplay the Freedom Convoy by portraying the participants as a “small minority” who hold “unacceptable views.” They would – no satire – undermine the rights, freedoms, and values of Canada. In truth, however, there can be no question of “small.”

Our correspondents in Canada all speak of an unprecedented protest campaign that is growing larger every day. It is the Canadian middle class that is now waking up.

The action is causing a stir around the world: For many people, Canadian truckers are currently the sign of resistance against coercion and oppression.

Prime Minister Trudeau says the "small, fringe minority" on their way to Ottawa "hold unacceptable views" and are undermining the rights, freedoms and values of Canada.
