Free Programming at Fundição Progresso Until September 18th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – To help celebrate the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Fundição Progresso in Lapa is hosting Casa da Cultura with over seventy free shows, exhibitions, activities and festivals. The events began on September 1st and will continue through September 18th.

Musicians and groups in the event’s lineup will perform jazz, coco, maracatu, rock, indie rock, tecnobrega, pop, funk, electronic, traditional and contemporary music live.

The performers are grouped into festivals including O Menor Festival de Jazz do Mundo, Vaca Amarela, Interações Estéticas, Se Rasgum, Coco de Nóis e do Mundo, A Hora do Coco and MorroStock.

Upcoming festivals include the Festival Interações Estéticas on September 7th, 8th, 11th, 14th and 15th with Couto Orchestra, Trio Nordestino, Quintal de Sinhá, Ticuqueiros, Guerreiro do Passo, DJ Leon Selector, and Chico Simões, among others performing live.

The Festival Coco de Nóis e do Mundo will take place on September 9th with Treminhão and DJ Gurraiz, among others performing and the Festival Vaca Amarela will be held on September 10th with Lutre, Compnents, Hell Oh and others playing live.

The Festival A Hora do Coco will take place on September 13th with Coco de Praia, Galo Preto and more performing and the Festival Morrostock on September 16th with feature Mari Martinez & The Soulmate, Orquestra Friorenta, and Molho Negro playing live. Finally, on September 17th, the Frestival Se Rasgum will present Toni Soares & Ana Clara and Pinduca & Manoel Cordeiro, among others performing live.

In addition to those performances, programming will also include performances as part of the Interações Estéticas (the festival Esthetic Interactions) and library activities and exhibitions as part of the Biblioteca Livre (the Free Library project).
