Colombian authorities warn of alleged plot against prosecutor general

Based on military and police intelligence, Colombian authorities have raised concerns about a possible plan by the National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrilla group to target the Prosecutor General, Francisco Barbosa.

According to three distinct sources, including intelligence from the Armed Forces and the Technical Investigation Body (CTI), there are indications of a terrorist attack against Barbosa.

Information suggests a meeting took place in Venezuela in July among top ELN commanders.

Reports indicate that training sessions for this armed group are being conducted in Venezuela to prepare for a sniper attack coordinated by an individual known as “el Rolo,” an ELN urban front leader.

Such tactics are consistent with the group’s known modus operandi.

The authority continues investigating, verifying the provided intelligence and collecting the necessary evidence to take appropriate legal actions.

This alert comes during a bilateral ceasefire between the government and ELN, which began on August 3rd and is set to last for six months.
