Brazilian corn exports rise to 6.31 million tons in September

Brazilian corn exports will total 6.31 million tons in September, up 147.8% from the same period in 2021, when the second harvest was affected by weather problems, data from the National Association of Grain Exporters (Anec) showed Tuesday.

However, the survey showed that the volume is slightly lower than the 6.9 million tons shipped abroad in August based on shipping schedules at ports.

This year, the country expects not only to record sales but also increased foreign demand to fill the gap in the international market created by the war in Ukraine.

If the forecast is confirmed, Brazil could export 25.23 million metric tons of corn year-over-year through September, an amount higher than the 20.6 million shipped in 2021.

Anec expects shipments of 3.9 million tons this month for soybeans, down from 4.7 million last September.

In August, the world’s largest producer and exporter of oilseeds ended with exports of 5.07 million tons.

The association estimates foreign sales at 2.05 million tons of soybean meal, up from 1.46 million tons a year earlier. In August, the country exported 1.69 million tons.
