Brazilian coffee harvest rises to 89%, reaching the pace of 2021

The coffee harvest of the 2022/23 cycle in Brazil reached 89% of the total projected by August 9, boosting six percentage points over the previous week, so that the pace of work balanced index at the same time last year seen, according to data released by Safras & Mercado on Thursday.

There is a slight gap of two percentage points compared to the historical average.

According to the consultancy, coffee farmers in the world’s largest producer and exporter have already harvested 54.26 million bags, from an estimated harvest of 61.1 million 60-kilo bags.

The coffee harvest in Brazil slowed down a bit last week, which is characteristic of the final phase of the work, said consultant Gil Barabach.

He said cone harvesting is pretty much complete, with only a few passes left.

Already Arabica is entering the final phase, as the indicator has reached 84% of production (compared to 83% in the same period last year, but still below the historical 87%).
