According to recent data from travel metasearch engine, Kayak, São Paulo and Lisbon have emerged as the preferred travel destinations for Brazilians in the second half of 2023.
Other popular destinations include Rio de Janeiro, Recife, and Fortaleza among others.
Interestingly, eight out of the ten most searched destinations are within Brazil, indicating a strong domestic travel trend.
In 2023, São Paulo retained its top spot despite a 10% reduction in average ticket prices compared to the previous year, with a current average ticket price of R$770 (US$163).
Lisbon, on the other hand, witnessed a 9% rise in the average ticket price, which now stands at R$5.4 thousand.
Nevertheless, this increase did not deter its rise to the second position in the ranking.
In contrast to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro experienced a 19% decrease in ticket prices, yet remained a popular choice.
Other destinations displayed a mix of price fluctuations, with Fortaleza and Buenos Aires seeing ticket price hikes of 11% and 5% respectively.
Prices for Porto Alegre and Porto Seguro dropped by 15% and 4% respectively.
Gustavo Vedovato, the country manager of Kayak in Brazil, noted the increasing preference for domestic destinations and commented that this trend could offer a significant boost to Brazil’s tourism industry.
