Ricardo spoke to the press at Rio Homicide Precinct (DH), in Barra da Tijuca, where four state police officers of the Pacification Police Unit (UPP) of Fazendinha testified. Eight more police officers were heard on Monday.

According to Antônio Ricardo, today, September 25th at 10 AM, Ágatha’s parents and grandfather will testify. The chief detective of DH, Daniel Rosa, said that Ágatha was shot by a single bullet fragment, which struck some obstacle before and shattered.

“This report is under preparation. This fragment is being examined in order to determine the weapon’s caliber. There is some difficulty due to the fragment’s size”, said Daniel Rosa.

According to Rosa, 20 people were heard and the testimonies have already enabled a glimpse of what happened at the time of the girl’s death, who was in a van with her mother. He ruled out the involvement of a female police officer in the occurrence, which had been mentioned by residents of Complexo do Alemão.

Protest

The ‘Rio de Paz’ (“Rio of Peace”) group held a protest yesterday afternoon on the banks of Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. A total of 43 signs were installed with the names of the police officers who died this year in the state, victims of violence. On each of the signs there was a summary of how the death occurred. According to the coordinator of the Rio de Paz, Antônio Carlos da Costa, both the deaths of children such as Ágatha and the police are the result of a safety policy that favors clashes, rather than social integration measures.

Antônio Carlos had already protested on Monday, September 23rd, at the Aterro do Flamengo, where 57 signs were placed representing the total number of children killed in the state since 2007 as a result of city violence.
