Paraguay replaces Brazil as host of the Copa America Futsal 2022
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation) decided to change the venue of the next edition of the Copa America Futsal 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, granting Paraguay the host status Brazil had until this Tuesday.
“The Directorate of Competitions and Operations informed that, as a result of the sanitary restrictions in force in Brazil to date due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CONMEBOL Copa America Futsal 2022 edition has changed its venue and will be played in Paraguay,” the body informed.
The Copa America Futsal, which will take place from January 29 to February 6, 2022, has been held 12 times, and ten have been triumphs of Brazil, reigning champion after its victory in Argentina 2017. The last edition, in Chile 2019, was not disputed due to the pandemic.

“In the coming days, CONMEBOL’s Directorate of Competitions and Operations will give more details about the tournament,” he sentenced regarding the new venues, dates, and schedules. The teams will arrive in Paraguay on January 27.
