Brazilian hotel occupancy rates up, but pre-pandemic numbers won’t be reached until 2023

The hotel sector in Brazil ended 2021 with an occupancy rate of 43%, up 16.5 percentage points from 2020.

However, compared to 2019, the sector is still declining. In the pre-pandemic period, occupancy was 60.2%.

The data was published Thursday (15) in the study "Hotelaria em Números 2022," conducted by JLL in collaboration with the Forum of Hotel Operators of Brazil (FOHB) and Resorts Brasil.

This year shows signs of improvement as demand increases, but a full recovery is not expected until 2023.
