Background

The strong export numbers show Peru’s growing role in global agriculture. Historically, the country has relied on mining as its main revenue source.

Yet, in recent years, farming has gained more attention. The government has invested in agricultural technology and infrastructure.

Trade deals with countries like China and the United States have also helped. These agreements make it easier for Peru to export its goods.

The rise in exports can be linked to these strategic moves. The 6% growth since last July points to a stable economic outlook.

Peru’s unique climate allows for a wide range of crops. Its geography, with coastlines and highlands, offers varied conditions for farming.

This has contributed to the diversification of its agricultural products.

Avocados and blueberries have especially seen a surge in demand. Global health trends favor these fruits, which are high in nutrients.

The ministry’s report is a positive indicator for the future of Peru’s agriculture sector. This could influence policy decisions aimed at further boosting exports.
