Market Optimism in Brazil Amid Foreign Investment Fluctuations

On Wednesday, the São Paulo Stock Exchange (B3) reported gains, with its leading index, the Ibovespa, closing at 115,052.96 points.

This shows a 1.69% rise, marking two consecutive days of growth. During the week, the increase totaled 1.55%.

Notably, trading halts on Thursday due to the Day of the Dead holiday.

Globally, other major stock exchanges also reported positive numbers. Specifically in the U.S., the Dow Jones grew by 0.67%. Meanwhile, the S&P500 saw a 1.05% rise.

Highlighting further, the Nasdaq showed a notable performance. It rose 1.64% in one day and 3.31% for the week.

Speaking of currencies, the U.S. Dollar ended Wednesday at R$ 4.97 ($1), showing a 1.35% drop. Over the week, the decrease amounted to 0.80%.

Focusing on Brazil’s economic health, there’s an indicator called the 5-year CDS. This number was 183 on Wednesday.

A year ago, it was higher at 273. Essentially, a lower CDS means more confidence in Brazil’s economy.

Lastly, on the topic of foreign investments, some notable figures emerge. By Monday’s end, foreign investors pulled out R$ 2.9 billion ($583.5 million) from the B3 this month.

However, the year’s overall balance remains in the green at R$ 6.4 billion ($1.29 billion).

When we add in initial and secondary offerings, the yearly gain stands impressively at R$ 17.2 billion ($3.46 billion).
