Lula da Silva announces public investment in naval industry and oil and gas sector in Brazil
The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, announced yesterday, Monday, that his government would promote public investment in the naval and oil and gas industries during a speech in Rio de Janeiro.
The president assured that his government would use the state-owned oil company Petrobras and the development entity Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) as vectors for public investment in key sectors such as hydrocarbon exploitation and the recovery of work in shipyards.
“Petrobras will reinvest in Rio de Janeiro, BNDES will reinvest in the productive sector, we must return to building ships and platforms in Rio de Janeiro’s shipyards and recover the oil and gas industry in Brazil,” Lula assured while inaugurating a health center.

Accompanied by the governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro, and the city mayor, Eduardo Paes, Lula emphasized the need to resume public policies in what is considered the tourist capital of Brazil.
The president defended actions to encourage national development and reindustrialization through the development bank BNDES.
At the event, Lula launched the National Policy for the Reduction of Elective Surgery Queues, with an investment of 600 million reais (about 116 million dollars) and aimed at reducing the waiting time for patients to receive specialized care in the Unified Health System, the free and free health service in force in Brazil.
