Lindsey Stirling Live in Rio Tonight at Citibank Hall in Barra

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Lindsey Stirling, a classically trained violinist known for mixing dubstep and EDM (electronic dance music) beats with her playing to create a unique sound, will perform live at Citibank Hall in Barra da Tijuca on April 11th. She will go on to perform at Citibank Hall in São Paulo on April 13th, and Teatro Do Sesi in Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, on April 14th.

Stirling first entered the mainstream when she appeared on the fifth season of “America’s Got Talent.” She advanced only to the quarter-final round with judges Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne doubting that her sound and style of performance, which features dancing while playing the violin, could attract a large audience.

Shortly after leaving the show Stirling went on to create YouTube videos of her performances. Quickly developing a following, she went on to create her own YouTube channel, Lindseystomp, which currently has over 6 million subscribers.

Her self-titled album, released in 2012 and re-released in 2013, has sold over 350,000 copies in the U.S. and was certified platinum in Germany and gold in Poland and Switzerland. The hit single from the album, “Crystallize,” currently has over one hundred million views.

In April of last year, Stirling released her second album entitled, Shatter Me. It also proved to be a huge success on the dance/electronic charts.

Stirling arrives tonight in Rio as part of her extended second world tour. “The same reasons I was told I wouldn’t succeed are the reasons people travel hundreds of miles to see me now,” Stirling says on her website, adding, “Because it’s different. Because it’s something you haven’t seen before…”
