Flu in Nine Goal Brasileirão Thriller: Daily

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Fred scored four goals for Fluminense as they narrowly beat Grêmio  5-4 in the 35th round of the Campeonato Brasileirão 2011. The Tricolor had been trailing 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 before the Brazilian international snatched three points for the Laranjeiras outfit in the dying stages.

In Minas Gerais, Botafogo’s poor form continued, losing 2-1 to relegation candidates América-MG while Vasco dropped precious points after drawing 1-1 with Palmeiras at the Pacaembu. With Corinthians winning 1-0 away to Ceará, the Paulista club managed to open a two point advantage over their Carioca rivals with three rounds to play.

Tonight, an out of sorts Flamengo face an in form Figueirense at the Engenhão. The Florianopolis side have won their last six matches in the Brasileirão.
