De La Cruz reaches verbal agreement and commits his future for next season; contract runs until 2025

Although he is only 25 years old, Uruguayan midfielder Nicolás de La Cruz is undoubtedly one of the best players in South American soccer.

The midfielder, who currently plays for River Plate in Argentina, is considered one of the best athletes on the continent and is, therefore, the subject of constant speculation in Brazil and Europe.

This season, he has received official offers from Flamengo, Atletico Mineiro, and Palmeiras, three of the most influential teams in our country.

However, the talks did not progress, and the Uruguayan continued with River, with whom he also could not agree on an extension.

In the final months of his contract with the Millonarios, De La Cruz has finally decided where he will play next season and has even reached a verbal agreement to sign his contract before leaving for the World Cup.

THE FUTURE OF NICOLÁS DE LA CRUZ IS DECIDED

According to journalist César Luis Merlo of TyC Sports, de La Cruz and River Plate have agreed to extend his contract.

The athlete will stay until December 2025 and receive a significant salary increase.

In addition, the agreement allows the Argentines to acquire another 20% of the economic rights of the athlete. They are now entitled to 50% of the value of any future sale of the Uruguayan, which is under intense scrutiny by Europe.

It is believed that de La Cruz will sign the new contract a few days before his departure for the World Cup in Qatar, becoming one of River Plate’s most important “reinforcements” for next year since his whereabouts were uncertain until then.
