The Curitiba Marathon, officially the Santander Maratona de Curitiba, runs on Sunday 15 November 2026 in the capital of Brazil’s southern state of Paraná, with the first start at 5 a.m. local time, which is 3 a.m. Eastern. Entries close on Saturday 31 October at 11:59 p.m. or when the field is full, and the organiser says the 2025 race drew a record 16,200 athletes.
For US readers, the race offers four distances on one morning, a start that falls in the middle of the night on the US East Coast and a visa rule that applies to American citizens. This guide covers the schedule in local and Eastern time, entry, the course, prize money, how to follow the race from the United States and what is still not confirmed.
Curitiba Marathon 2026 Schedule in Local and Eastern Time
Brazil does not use daylight saving time, so Curitiba is two hours ahead of New York from Sunday 1 November, when US clocks go back. All Eastern times below use that two-hour gap, and Pacific time is three hours behind Eastern.
- Thursday 12 November: kit pickup 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. local (8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern).
- Friday 13 November: kit pickup 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. local (7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern).
- Saturday 14 November: kit pickup 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. local (7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern).
- Sunday 15 November: first start at 5 a.m. local (3 a.m. Eastern, midnight Pacific).
- Sunday 15 November: official timing ends six hours after the start, so 11 a.m. local (9 a.m. Eastern) for a 5 a.m. start.
Kit pickup is at the Expo Maratona inside the Museu Oscar Niemeyer, at Rua Marechal Hermes 999 in the Centro Cívico district. The organiser says no kits are handed out on race day.
Entry, Prices and Deadlines
Entries are sold only through Ticket Sports, linked from the official website, and the organiser says registrations bought anywhere else are not valid and are not refunded. General sales opened on 17 June 2026, and the deadline is Saturday 31 October at 11:59 p.m. or until the cap is filled, with bank-slip (boleto) payment accepted only until Monday 26 October.
The first lot started at R$119 (about US$23.60) in June, according to the local outlet Bem Paraná, but the public Ticket Sports page showed no current lot prices when we checked on 23 October. Ticket Sports adds a convenience fee, and holders of a Santander credit card get 10% off the current lot.
Kit options are Smart (bib number, timing chip and finisher’s medal), Standard (adds a shirt and socks) and a VIP upgrade with a preferred start and a private lounge. Runners aged 60 and over get 50% off the Smart kit, and athletes with disabilities must request an access code with a medical report before they register.
A full refund is possible only within 7 days of purchase, and the regulation allows none after that. Name transfers closed on 9 October, and a later change of name or distance costs R$50 (about US$9.90) at kit pickup, subject to availability.
Distances, Waves and Time Limits
The race offers a full marathon of 42.195 km, a half marathon of 21.097 km, a 10K and a 5K. Minimum ages, counted on 31 December 2026, are 20 for the marathon and 18 for the half marathon.
Runners start in waves, with athletes with disabilities in the 42K and 21K first, then the elite field and general public in the 42K and 21K, and the 10K and 5K last. The organiser asks runners to arrive at least 40 minutes before their start, and starting corrals are set by the pace chosen at registration.
Time limits on the race clock are 6 hours for the marathon, 3 hours for the half marathon, 1 hour 30 minutes for the 10K and 1 hour for the 5K. Water is offered every 3 km on all distances, and the 42K has three isotonic-drink points and two fruit points.
Course, Start and Finish
The regulation names Praça Nossa Senhora de Salete in the Centro Cívico as the start, and the city government says the finish is in the same district. The 2025 course covered 22 neighbourhoods and passed the Museu Oscar Niemeyer, the Jardim Botânico and the Teatro do Paiol, the city said at the time.
The organiser has not yet published 2026 course maps, and its website lists the routes as coming soon. In 2025 the city began closing streets at 1 a.m. in places and expected normal traffic between 7 a.m. and noon, and it published the full closure list three days before the race.
Similar closures around Avenida Cândido de Abreu and the Centro Cívico are likely in 2026, but that is a pattern from last year and not a confirmed plan. Visitors staying outside the centre should plan early-morning transport before the roads close.
Prize Money and the Elite Field
The marathon winners, men and women alike, each earn R$110,000 (about US$21,800), second place earns R$66,000 (about US$13,100) and third earns R$38,000 (about US$7,500), all before income tax. A separate prize for Brazilian athletes starts at R$15,000 (about US$3,000) for first place, and Bem Paraná put the total purse above R$604,000 (about US$119,900).
The elite field is capped at 30 men and 30 women in the marathon and 15 of each in the half marathon, with entry standards of 2:19 for men and 2:50 for women in the marathon. Foreign professionals need authorisation from the Brazilian athletics confederation (CBAt), and the list of approved elite athletes was due by 10 October, but we did not find it published.
How to Watch and Follow From the US
Neither the organiser nor the city has announced a live broadcast or stream, so US viewers should not count on watching the race live. Results are due within 48 hours at chiptiming.com.br, and official photos are posted by Foco Radical.
Because the first start is at 3 a.m. Eastern, most US followers will see the result only after the race, once the chip-timing results appear. We found no spectator ticket on the organiser’s site, because entries are sold to runners only.
Getting There and Visa Rules for US Visitors
US citizens have needed a Brazilian visitor visa since 10 April 2025, and the e-visa costs US$80.90, allows up to 90 days a year and takes about 10 business days, according to Brazil’s consulate in New York. Apply well before travel, because the consulate does not issue emergency visas.
Kit pickup requires a photo ID, a printed and signed liability form and proof of registration, and a friend can collect a kit only with a signed authorisation and a copy of the runner’s photo ID. For the city beyond the race, see our What to Do in Curitiba guide, the Curitiba expat page and our Brazil e-visa guide for US citizens.
Why the Curitiba Marathon Matters
The field has grown from 9,100 athletes in 2022 to 10,200 in 2023, 13,300 in 2024 and 16,200 in 2025, according to the organiser’s website. The organiser calls the 2025 race the biggest sporting event in Paraná state that year, and the city government now expects more than 16,000 runners in 2026.
The city government names Global Vita Sports as organiser, the regulation names the Associação Amazing Runs, and the race carries the name of the bank Santander. More Brazil news and travel coverage sits on the Rio Times Brazil hub.
What It Means for You
If you plan to run, register before Saturday 31 October, apply for the e-visa now and allow time to pick up your kit on 12, 13 or 14 November. Budget for the Ticket Sports fee and the R$50 (about US$9.90) late-change charge, and remember that cancellations after 7 days are not refunded.
If you plan to follow from home, expect results and photos after the race and not a live feed. If you plan to travel only as a spectator, expect road closures around the Centro Cívico in the early morning that have not yet been announced.
What Is Not Known
The organiser has not published the 2026 course maps, the cut-off points for the marathon and half marathon, or the start times of the later waves. The regulation PDF still says the start time is to be announced, while the organiser’s FAQ and the city government give 5 a.m. for the first wave.
Current lot prices, the number of places left and the final field size are not public, and the cap was reported at 16,000 in June while the city now expects more than 16,000 runners. The 2026 street-closure list and any live broadcast have not been announced, and the organiser says the race goes ahead in any weather.
