RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Banggood, e-commerce of Chinese products and Aliexpress’ competitor, has its eye on the Brazilian market. The country is now the website’s second largest market, behind only the United States. Now, the e-commerce firm will have a direct flight to Brazil, which will reduce its delivery time here, one of the main bottlenecks for sales.

Unlike Aliexpress, which works as a mega marketplace, at Banggood all products are sold directly by the e-commerce firm. “We are the largest Chinese website in Brazil which is not a marketplace. The main focus of our expansion plan in Brazil is to reduce delivery time,” said Patricia Chen, manager of Banggood Latin America.

With a direct flight to Brazil, the waiting time for a purchase, which currently reaches 60 days, will drop to 20 or even 15 days depending on the product. And the store’s goal is to become even faster. Banggood is establishing a warehouse in Jundiaí (SP), which should start operating in the coming months – it was scheduled to start operating this year, but the pandemic has delayed plans.

The site has already been selected and Banggood is now working to bring its products from China to Brazil, a rather lengthy process. Once ready, the distribution center will reduce delivery time to up to one week, depending on the purchase and customer location. It will also enable Banggood to sell larger goods to the Brazilian market, such as household appliances.

Banggood sells products from over 100 regions in China to other countries and has 37 warehouses worldwide. The Chinese store entered the Brazilian market in 2014. Since then, over 726,000 clients have bought from the website. The number of users grows by an average of 40 percent per year. The revenue in the country is approximately R$50 million per year. In July, Banggood made a mid-year promotion, with offers and benefits such as free shipping. It sold R$9 million in three days.

The website sells everything. From cell phones to clothes, from car accessories to toys, including electronics and beauty products. In addition to reducing delivery time to Brazil, the store seeks to increase the variety of offers in strategic segments, such as cell phones, in order to attract more consumer attention here.

Another action front is to improve the relationship with customers, focusing on consumer confidence, who are often afraid to buy Chinese products. “We now have a team with great experience in the Brazilian market and we are working to improve customer experience. We are not a marketplace, so in case there is any quality issue, we help in a faster way”, says Chen.
