RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Economy Minister Paulo Guedes confirmed on Wednesday, August 5th, that the economic team is preparing the final details of the measure to extend Emergency Aid to casual workers until the end of the year.

During his opening speech, Guedes said that Renda Brasil (Brazil Income), a basic income program that should replace the Emergency Aid and the Family Grant, is being discussed with the Legislative branch. He further praised Congress, which he referred to as “reformist and constructive”, for its approval of measures such as the PEC (proposed constitutional amendment), which he said allowed the government to inject “half a trillion reais” into the economy “within the constitutional framework”.
