The company Portos do Paraná, which manages the state’s port terminals, registered a record for cargo handling in 2022.

The volume reached 58.4 million tonnes, as shown by the company’s data.

According to Portos do Paraná, the previous record for handling cargo at the company’s terminals was recorded in 2021, with 57.5 million tonnes, between loading and unloading.

That is: the volume of 2022 represents a growth of 1.5% over the previous cycle.

“We closed another year with historic movement in the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, thanks to the commitment of all the workers and the efforts of the terminals and port operators with the objective of maintaining efficiency and productivity”, said Luiz Fernando Garcia, director-president of company.

According to the company, the largest flow is in the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina.

From these facilities, 35.5 million tonnes were shipped to other countries: around 9% more than in 2021.

The products most exported through Paraná ports were soy, soy bran, sugar, corn, chicken, vegetable oils, wood, cellulose, fuels, paper and beef.

Imports, on the other hand, were close to 20 million tonnes, 10% less than in 2021.

“The negative impact on the volume of cargo imported by terminals in Paraná came from fertilizers, following the downward movement observed in the general movement of the product in the country”, explains the CEO.
